Deductions
Only the head records a deduction, after a complaint has been given and checked. It is small, private, and there is always a way back.
A deduction is the one entry only the head of the school can make, and only after a complaint has been given and checked. It is proportionate, the note stays with the head and the counselor, and it opens the way back the same moment.
Before you record one
- A complaint was given: a teacher, a child, a family or anyone else told the school what happened.
- It was checked: someone talked with the children involved and found out what happened. Often that is the teacher; sometimes it is you.
- The child has talked with the counselor, or will the same day.
Record it
Open the child's page. Below the history is Something happened.

- What happened. Hurt someone, or neglected a duty (minus ten), or violence, bullying or deceit (minus twenty-five). Your school may have renamed or added kinds under Settings, Points.
- Category, optional: the kind of goodness it touched, so the way back can point at it.
- Who reported it.
- What happened and what was agreed. This note stays with the admins and the counselor. The family and the teacher never see it.
- I have checked this complaint myself. The form will not send without it.
- Record deduction and open the way back.
The deduction is written with your name, and a case opens for the counselor.
What happens next
The counselor walks the way back: Talk the same day, Encourage with a goal, Correct with the family told; a consequence only if those were not enough; then the repair, and the exact points come back. The deduction stays in the record, marked restored. See The way back.
Your other admins get one email that a deduction was recorded, naming the class and the child to school staff and never the note.
The kinds of deduction
Under Settings, Points: rename a kind, add one of your own with what it takes, hide one you never use. Nobody types an amount on the form itself; the kind decides it, so every deduction of the same kind takes the same.
What a deduction is not
Not a grade, not a mark against the child that follows them, not something the class or other families see. The classroom screen never shows it; the family sees it with its repair; the certificate counts acts and peaceful weeks.
