When something goes wrong

What a teacher does when a child harms someone, and what the app does not let a teacher do.

A teacher never records a deduction. When a child hurts someone, the teacher does what teachers do: steps in, listens to both sides, checks what happened. Then the complaint goes to the head of the school, and the counselor takes it from there.

The order of things

  1. You see or hear of harm. You talk with the children, the same day, and find out what happened.
  2. You tell the counselor and the head. In person, or through a concern on Review. The head is the only person who can record a deduction, and only after confirming that the complaint was given and checked.
  3. The head records a deduction, proportionate: minus ten for hurting someone or neglecting a duty, minus twenty-five for violence, bullying or deceit. The note stays with the head and the counselor.
  4. The counselor opens the way back: Talk, Encourage, Correct, a consequence only if those were not enough, then the repair. When the repair is written, the points come back. The way back

What you see

On the child's page, the deduction with its kind and date, and a line: "The way back is open with the counselor." When it is complete, the restoration appears with what was undone and what good was done, and the points are back.

A child's page as a teacher sees it during a way back: the deduction and the line that the way back is open with the counselor
You see that it is in hand. The words stay with the counselor.

The peaceful week

A child who harmed someone this week is marked as an exception when you confirm the peaceful week. That is all: no points for the week, no entry, no note. A peaceful week

What the app will not do

It will not let you take points away, change an entry, or write a note the family can read about harm. Those are the guide's rules, not the app's, and they keep a deduction small, private and restorable.
