Points

What every entry is worth, who sets it, and what never changes.

Mohanji set the amounts, and they are the same in every school. Nobody chooses a number, so a point means the same thing in every classroom and no teacher can favor a child or be accused of it.

The table

EntryPointsWho records it
An act of goodness+10The teacher who saw it
A peaceful week (Harmony week in the app)+5The class teacher, once a week
A deduction: hurt someone, or neglected a duty−10The head of the school, after a checked complaint
A deduction: violence, bullying or deceit−25The head of the school, after a checked complaint
A restorationThe exact points backThe counselor or the head, when the way back is walked

A school can rename a kind of deduction or add one of its own, and can hide a kind it never uses. It cannot change what an act or a peaceful week is worth.

What the points are for

Points are recognition, not a race. They add up on a child's own record and on the certificate the school prints. They never appear as a rank: no leaderboard, no class total on the wall, no comparison between children. The classroom screen shows leaves and first names and never a total.

Leaves, badges, the tree

Every act of goodness adds one leaf to the class tree. The tree is what the class watches grow together.

BadgeEarned at
Leaf3 acts in one kind of goodness
Flower10 acts in one kind of goodness
Fruit25 acts in one kind of goodness

A badge is earned, never given. It appears on the child's record, on the certificate and in the week's circle.

When points come back

A deduction opens the way back. Once the counselor has walked its steps with the child and written the repair, a restoration returns exactly the points that were taken. The deduction stays in the record, marked restored; nothing is erased. See The way back.

When an entry is reversed

If the review board finds that an entry should not stand, it records a reversal: a new entry with the opposite points. The original stays exactly as written, marked reversed, and no longer counts toward leaves, badges or the circle. See The review board.
